Every day, another search engine comes onto the market. Before we know it, there might be more search engines than people to use them. But, not all search engines are created equal. Some are backed by pretty creative ideas. Here are three that might interest you:

HiNii.com

Looking for something fun to do? HiNii.com can help! The search engine is an excellent concept. It asks users questions like what type of activity they’re searching for, how many people will be involved in the activity, what time of day they want the activity to take place, and so on. The only trouble is that the search engine, which is still in beta, only works for Italian cities, making it pretty useless for Americans (unless they are going to Italy, in which case, it’s incredibly useful). The English is also not entirely grammatically correct. That being said, it’s a great concept, and one that could really take off once more cities are added.

Yamusica.net

Sometimes you just want to hear some great live music. Thank goodness for Yamusica.net, which automatically detects your location, and tells you about local gigs in your area, with the date and location. It appears to gather most of its information from Last.fm. Under each event, there are two buttons: one to get more information, and the other to buy tickets. How convenient!

AllTheBests.com

If you’re one of those people who likes the best of everything (and who doesn’t?) this may be the search engine for you. Type in whatever topic you’re looking to find the best of, and you’ll be supplied with an answer (for example, apparently ‘the best digital camera’ is the Nikon D5000). How it works is you type in the ‘best of’ that you’re looking for, and wait for other users to give their personalized suggestions. You have to register to use this search engine, but it may just be worth that 30 seconds of your time.

So go ahead, give these new search engines a try, and expand your horizons just a little bit.
